1989 Boschert B300 Was The Gullwing Mercedes E-Class You Never Knew Existed

An extraordinary 1989 Boschert B300 is about to cross the auction block at an upcoming RM Sotheby’s event in Munich. Making it even more special is that this is the only Boschert B300 equipped with gullwing doors, placing it somewhere midway between the E-Class Coupe (more specifically, the C124-gen 300 CE) it started life as and a Mercedes SL.

When it crosses the auction block on November 25, it’s expected to fetch between $265,000 and $320,000.

If that seems like a lot, you should be aware that it isn’t, because the Boschert B300 ‘Gullwing’ is a remarkably special piece of machinery.

Before the likes of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG graced our roads, enthusiasts and tuners had an insatiable appetite to capture the spirit of the iconic Gullwing design. In the early 1980s, the German tuning powerhouse Styling-Garage unveiled its C126-based 500SGS Gullwing. And then, in a bid to keep the Gullwing magic alive, Hartmut Boschert entered the scene with the C124-based B300.
