To further make the GV60 feel like an ICE vehicle, the Active Sound Design mode can play various sounds through the speakers: Futuristic, E-Motor, and G-Engine, all of which offer different volume settings in case you only want them as background noise.

Futuristic makes a Jetsons-style noise, while E-Motor enhances the natural sounds of the electric motors. VGS is only compatible with G-Engine and attempts to simulate the sound of a gasoline engine. We’d be lying if we said the VGS made us completely forget we were driving an EV, but if you truly hate the feeling of uninterrupted linear power, this system is the first one we’ve tested that feels more like an ICE setup.

When we spoke to Hyundai about the N e-shift feature in the Ioniq 5 N, the company said it was designed to stop motion sickness on the racetrack (it also said this feature would be exclusive to N). Unfortunately, we didn’t have a track to test the GV60, but we did have some fun tossing the car around a curvy road and changing gears in manual mode.
