700-HP BMW M2 Hatch Is An M140i With Attitude

The BMW 1 Series may not be the top Bimmer for the most fun behind the wheel, but one M140i owner has heavily reworked his hatchback beyond power increase and turned it into a thrilling pocket rocket. Like a recent V8 1 Series build, this creation imagines what the F21 hatch would look like with BMW M2 styling.

Luke, the owner, bought the car in a modified state, with it producing around 500 horsepower. But he wanted more and gave the 3.0-liter turbocharged straight-six B58 engine several upgrades to make his 700-hp goal a reality.

Since BMW always uses cheap plastic, charge piping was upgraded. The car also got a bigger ultra-flow hybrid turbo setup, a new front-mount induction kit with a sprayer, an R-sport charge cooler, and a high-pressure fuel pump. Methanol injection helps keep octane and temperature levels healthy.
