The eMCV is a six-seater and uses its electric powertrain to its advantage. According to GM, it comes with Silent Watch and Silent Drive features and has a low acoustic and thermal signature. It can also deliver mission-critical equipment at high speed.
GM added Fox performance shocks, 37-inch tires, heavy-duty brakes, and improved approach and departure angles to make it military-ready. It also has a 46-inch gun ring and swing side-arm mounts.
By now, we’re used to comments like “How will it charge on the battlefield,” and “The army’s gone woke,” but to dismiss this truck as a farce is missing the point. The military has many vehicles at its disposal, and the eMCV will likely serve as an addition instead of a replacement (for the foreseeable future, at least). Keep in mind that a Hummer EV can power a house for days and how beneficial that would be on a base.
