The brand will expand to other states and plans to build a $4 billion EV assembly plant in North Carolina. However, this also faces challenges as the inaugural date was pushed from 2024 to 2025.
According to Experian‘s data, the VF 8 had one new registration in February, 16 in March, 66 in April, and 45 in May. Moreover, VinFast was number 22 on Experian’s 25-brand list of new EV registration.
One guess as to why the VinFast brand is not gaining traction in the US is build quality issues. The VF 8 has even received lukewarm reviews, which probably led the Vietnamese automaker to roll out the aforementioned aftersales programs.
