Mohr said electric motors are as straightforward as they get. Regardless of horsepower rating, most EVs provide an identical driving feel. As such, the technical team would instead focus on developing technologies like torque vectoring to give their EVs more character.

This is, however, not the first time for such a strategy. The platform the Lamborghini Urus uses is borrowed from the group and underpins cars like the Audi Q8 and Porsche Cayenne. It also comes with the same powertrain components consisting of an eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox and a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 albeit running with a different engine tuning.

Still, the first Lambo SUV achieved great heights in terms of sales, even besting the Huracan and Aventador.

“There will be a lot of solutions that are exclusively for Lamborghini. Even more than in the Urus today. So it’s not a badge,” said Mohr.
