The system is operated via the RS button located on the steering wheel. To unleash the extra performance, the driver must hold the switch down for one second “in the drive cycle in one of the two RS modes.” Once this is done, the vehicle will provide up to 986 horsepower. ABT notes that prolonged use of the system may affect the fuel range, but people who own cars like this don’t worry about trivial things like gas mileage.
It’s worth noting that the Audi Legacy Edition duo needs 102-octane fuel in their tanks to produce the full 987 hp. When running on 98-octane, power is limited to a still-impressive 927 hp and 774 lb-ft. The upgrade costs €205,000 (approx. $219,000), which doesn’t include the vehicle itself. With the RS6 and RS7 priced (before options) at $125,800 and $127,800, respectively, the final price will be eye-watering.
We wonder if the future all-electric RS6 sedan will be able to match the ABT-tuned models for sheer power and performance.
