Watch: Pro Drifter's 1,100-HP Ford Mustang Rides The Wall After Corvette Crash

Drifting may be one of the most exuberant motorsports, but it’s all about precision and control; the slightest error can result in a spectacular mishap, as three-time Formula D champion James Deane found out last weekend when his Ford Mustang RTR Spec 5-FD went airborne at Irwindale Speedway.

Sliding around a bend on the outside line, Deane was struck by Matte Fields in his Corvette C6, sending the S650 Mustang into the wall. But the drama doesn’t end there. The impact force sends the vehicle onto its side and into the air, scraping along the protective fence.

The ‘Stang lands on all four wheels, but the damage has already been done. The front and rear bumpers can be seen hanging on by a thread, and based on the half-hearted limp, it’s safe to assume some suspension components were damaged in the process, too.
