Test Shows Volkswagen EV Battery Retains 93% Capacity After 62,000 Miles

ADAC says it will perform more battery testing on the ID.3 to make it reach the 99,419-mile mark. This is a significant stage for the long-term test as the manufacturer’s warranty for the vehicle’s batteries expires.

For now, the German testing group is encouraging VW EV owners to stay on top of the brand’s over-the-air updates. Its tests also indicate that these provided tangible improvements to power consumption in low temperatures and efficiency, among others.

The ID.3 isn’t sold in the US market, but it does share a platform with its locally available ID.4 crossover sibling. So, if we’re being optimistic, owners of the ID.4 can expect the same battery pack resiliency from their rides. It would be better, though, if a US-based group applied the same long-term test to the ID.4.
