2025 Toyota Crown Signia SUV First Look Review: New Territory

Unlike the Crown sedan, there will only be one engine choice for the Toyota Crown Signia SUV. It’s a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with two electric motor generators, producing 243 hp combined – exactly the same output as the Highlander Hybrid. An electronic on-demand AWD system and CVT will be standard. One electric motor is a dedicated unit mounted at the back, adding extra traction when required.

Based on the Highlander Hybrid’s performance, we expect the Crown Signia to have a 0-60 mph sprint time of just under 8.5 seconds, so it’s not the most rapid crossover around. The optional 340-hp powertrain in the Crown sedan is not available here, while towing for the Crown Signia is limited to 2,700 lbs.

The Crown Signia shares the TNGA-K platform with the Crown sedan. Toyota promises “sedan-like driving comfort,” so it should be a pleasant highway cruiser. We don’t expect particularly sporty responses, but for its intended target market, comfort is more important. Toyota has used many noise-minimizing materials like a dash silencer, an acoustic absorbing engine cover, and acoustic glass on the front side windows, so it should be more refined than the Highlander.

Normal, Eco, and Sport driving modes can tailor the driving experience, and there is an EV mode for driving on pure electric power for shorter distances.
