The 2013 Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 W04 seven-time F1 champion Lewis Hamilton’s car when he left McLaren for his current team. It wasn’t an easy year for the British racing driver, especially with Red Bull and Sebastian Vettel dominating the grid. Regardless, the car scored one victory at the Hungarian Grand Prix that season.
But in the following seasons, in the hybrid era, Hamilton won year after year (excluding 2016 when teammate Nico Rosberg got his first F1 title). As such, the W04 symbolized the beginning of a legendary run for Lewis, and the value showed at the auction held in Las Vegas. Of note, the original estimated value was just between $10 to $15 million.
