According to Mitchell, once cut, everything came together relatively easily, meaning the outfit could better focus on ensuring the car had the proper suspension setup for racing.
Since it’s a pickup chassis, it features a double-wishbone front suspension with a coil-sprung solid rear axle. Coilovers were added to all four corners, and larger brakes were added too. Apart from other fabricated pieces necessary to make everything work, the internals are all pickup, down to the Mercedes engine. The powerplant initially made 148 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque, though that may have changed slightly. It has been mated to a new six-speed Quaife sequential transmission, so you know the car’s going rip when it hits the track.
There’s no word on what event Cooper plans to enter, but the Bathhurst 12 Hours of Lemons is coming up this February. He has even mentioned he’s musing about the idea of shipping the car to the US to enter the big leagues, so we can’t wait to see (and hear) what happens next, as this is definitely going to be one wild ride.
