Overview

Angry sports-car looks and searing performance were two facets of the old Mercedes-AMG GT coupe’s greatness, a car that left the market with a shout from its vicious twin-turbo V-8 at the end of the 2021 model year. We’re pleased to report that we expect this spirit to carry over when an all-new GT coupe model arrives for 2025. The new coupe is said to be based on the current SL roadster, a car that has proved unexpectedly hot as well as thoroughly luxurious. The coupe’s proportions will likely mimic those of the 2023 Mercedes-AMG SL-class, and we expect the interior to be similar as well. The next-gen AMG GT will likely retain the open-top SL’s thunderous twin-turbo V-8 powertrain, and an elevated model could potentially offer a hybrid setup similar to that of the four-door AMG GT63 S Performance. Regardless of its propulsion systems, we expect AMG to deliver a sports coupe rife with beauty, luxury, and get-out-of-my-way performance.

What’s New for 2025?

The Mercedes-AMG GT sports coupe is expected to be an entirely new model for the 2025 model year and will likely launch sometime during the second half of the 2024 calendar year. More potent versions, which could include another Black Series, will likely follow later.
