The seal issue was an attempt for Tesla to cut costs as it swapped the old three-lip seal design with a single-lip unit, which is less durable. Once the seal breaks, the coolant will enter the motor, eventually leading to damage. It will also lower the coolant levels of the EV, lowering its efficiency.
As the million-mile Tesla is now out of warranty, swapping motors and battery packs will become expensive for Von Gemmingen, which may mean changing to a new vehicle soon.
However, if the upgrades done by EV Clinic last, the EV may be able to travel more than 1.5 million miles before needing another motor. It will be a different case for the battery, as Tesla has yet to create a unit that can last a million miles.
