That means the production version would’ve also provided the market with an even more affordable option to a Toyota sports car. Since the Toyota GR86 starts at around $28,000 in the US, a supposed production Toyota S-FR could have been available with an even cheaper price tag.
Today, it seems Toyota has no plans to bring the concept back to light. However, it was a nice gesture that Toyota’s ex-CEO and current Chairman, Akio Toyoda, visited the booth where the Mazda Miata-based Toyota S-FR concept is displayed. Then again, Toyota is banking on electrifying its future sports cars, as previewed by the FT-Se EV concept at the Japan Mobility Show.
