Over 11,000 employees work on the eight million square foot campus, and several crossovers and SUVs are produced here, including the BMW X3, X4, X5, X6, X7, and XM, in all their variations (coupe, M, et cetera). Since the plant is responsible for the most popular vehicle types, it is also America’s biggest automotive exporter (by value), sending nearly $9.6 billion worth of product around the world.
A humanoid robot may seem like a gamble, but if it proves as useful as Figure and BMW hope, it could be a game-changer for efficiency and speed. On the other hand, it could lead to small issues that become big recalls, but we’ll only know once BMW tries.
