Nearly 200,000 Teslas In the US Recalled For Rearview Camera Glitch

Tesla is recalling nearly 200,000 units of 2023 Model S, Model X, and Model Y EVs for a software issue that prevents the rearview camera from displaying when backing up. Without a rearview camera, owners may have difficulties reversing their vehicles, increasing the risk of a collision.

The Texas-based EV maker started receiving reports regarding the issue on December 26, 2023. The problem is believed to have stemmed from an over-the-air (OTA) update in late December, resulting in software instability. It affected units equipped with Full-Self Driving (FSD) 4.0 and running a software release from 2023.44.30 through 2023.44.30.6 or 2023.44.100.
