Ram 1500 TRX Struggles For Grip On Icy Rally Course

After rallying through the 1.25-mile icy track course, the 2023 Ram TRX put down a lap time of 2:25.16, which was fifth on the rally school’s winter leaderboard. A fifth-place finish may not sound bad, but it is about seven seconds off the Ford Bronco Badlands. Its corporate SUV cousin, the Dodge Durango, running with the same engine, did an outstanding 2:14.97 lap time, nearly beating the off-road staple Subaru WRX. The Ski-Doo MXZ remains the overall leader, though it is a snowmobile, so it is expected to top the charts.

The V8-powered Ram TRX’s days are numbered as it is being replaced by the 1500 HRO using a Hurricane inline-six. The HRO is expected to get an updated suspension, so we’re looking forward to the day Team O’Neil gets their hands on one and has another go at it.
