Old Vs. New: 2021 Toyota Land Cruiser Vs. 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser

Old Vs. New: 2021 Toyota Land Cruiser Vs. 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser

The pricing for the 2024 Land Cruiser was published earlier this month, and it starts at $55,950 for the 1958 trim. A mid-tier Land Cruiser costs $61,950, and the First Edition sells for $74,950. During its final year on sale, the standard Land Cruiser cost $85,665, and the Heritage Edition sold for $87,995.

Regarding its direct rivals, the new Land Cruiser is perfectly positioned between the more expensive Ford Bronco and the cheap Jeep Wrangler. Obviously, it’s much cheaper than the Land Cruiser used to be, but how does it compare to the used market?

As many Toyota owners will tell you, any car made by the Japanese brand holds its value extremely well. The 2021 Land Cruiser is no exception and is even more valuable now that the full-fat Land Cruiser is no longer available in the USA. We browsed around, and the cheapest one is $72k for a high-mileage 2021 model. If you want a pristine low-mileage model, you can expect to pay exactly what the car costs new and, in some cases, even more. We found a 2021 Heritage Model with 15,000 miles on the clock advertised for $113,000, which is considered a fair deal. Top tip: if you own a 2021 Land Cruiser, hold on to it.

There’s no real winner in this comparison. We said the point was to decide whether the new car is worthy of the badge, and we see nothing here that indicates that it is anything but a Land Cruiser down to its very core.
