The all-new Dodge Charger Daytona EV has finally been unveiled, so we can compare it with the outgoing gas-powered model. Immediately, we start with a problem because Dodge chose to reveal the car in R/T and Scat Pack guises, leaving the more potent Banshee for later.
If you’re wondering why we’re comparing a 670-horsepower EV with a naturally aspirated V8, that’s why. We’ll eventually compare more potent EV models like the Banshee with the Hellcat, Super Stock, and Demon 170, but we figured that a like-for-like trim comparison was a better gauge of where we’ve come from and where we’re going.
You might also wonder why we’re comparing a Charger with a Challenger. The Challenger name has officially been put on ice, and the Charger name will now encompass two-door coupes and four-door liftbacks. The four-door is still a year away, so while the names are different, we are comparing a coupe with a coupe.
