The headline grabber in the new Charger Daytona range is the Scat Pack. It produces 670 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque, enough for a 3.3-second sprint to 60 mph. Its range is pretty limited, with the EPA estimating that it can only do 260 miles between charges.
While that’s more than enough, considering the average American only commutes 41 miles per day, we’d instead opt for the R/T. It only has 496 hp and 404 lb-ft of torque at its disposal, but it’s good enough for a sub-five-second sprint to 60 mph. Not that long ago, we considered that quite brisk. At the top end, the Scat Pack is only three mph faster.
But the main reasons we’re opting for this one are price and maintenance. The R/T is bound to be cheaper (pricing is still incoming), and kinder to its tires. We’ll take the four-door, thank you very much. To my eyes, it looks better and breaks that heavy-looking butt up a little.
