The fifth-generation Honda Accord, launched in 1994, brought some improved engine options. The 2.2-liter four-cylinder engines utilized Honda’s VTEC technology, and in 1995, a 2.7-liter V6 engine became available for the sedan.

Four years later, the sixth-generation Accord debuted with a more spacious and comfortable interior. Honda also began to focus on emissions, with some vehicles from this generation achieving a ULEV (Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle) rating. A 3.0-liter V6 was added to the list of engine choices; the standard transmission was a four-speed automatic, but some four-cylinder models were equipped with a five-speed manual transmission.

The seventh-generation Accord was launched in 2003 and came with various technological innovations: satellite navigation, electronic stability control, and side curtain airbags were now available. LED taillights, a relatively premium feature for the time, were standard.
