Previously, Alfa Romeo product lead Daniel Tiago Guzzafame said in February last year that an all-electric Tonale was “technically possible.” At the time, Alfa had not decided on whether to proceed. Things could well have changed since then.
However, another possibility is that this is a teaser for a high-performance Tonale and that the “new era” Alfa refers to may mean that the Quadrifoglio lineup will soon include a hybrid for the first time. The Dodge Hornet, the Tonale’s platform sibling, was presented with a Goes Like Hell concept version that is capable of over 300 horsepower, and it’s possible that the Tonale will take advantage of this for its own go-faster variant.
