Not to be confused with artificial leather used by companies like Tesla, Bentley’s organic leather is still made from cow hides.
However, the leather is tanned using a sustainable process using an organic by-product from the olive oil industry. This by-product is collected from wastewater during the olive pressing procedure, so it’s free from harmful metals, minerals, and aldehydes. Bentley says it is the first automaker to use the Olive Mill Wastewater (OMW) technology from the leather tannery, Pasubio SpA.
Bentley already uses sustainable leather practices, gathering hides that are by-products of the meat industry and would have been thrown out otherwise. This practice saves around 270 million hides annually that would have gone to landfills instead.
