This weekend’s Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Grand Prix will be Alfa Romeo’s last in the sport, but that may change in the future, according to the automaker’s CEO, Jean-Philippe Imparato. For those who don’t know, the Italian firm’s time in the sport was always meant to come to an end at the 2023 finale; Alfa Romeo committed to six seasons in the sport (starting in 2018) and says that it has achieved the mission it set out to.
“At the end of those six seasons, it’s time to take stock,” said Imparato. “For Alfa Romeo, this F1 adventure represented an international showcase at the highest level, as well as a profound human and sporting experience that supported our products’ dynamics with a great return on investment, providing a powerful strategic worldwide marketing platform for Alfa Romeo.”
Fanaticism and love for the brand come from its storied motorsports history, and that story still has some unwritten chapters.
