Verbeeck continued his adventure by driving a brand-new 911 GTS to the Porsche Penske Motorsport workshop in Mannheim. There, he immersed himself in the world of Porsche racing, capturing images of the formidable Porsche Penske race cars, including the legendary 2006 Porsche RS Spyder. Here, the V8 engine’s evolution – from the 3.4-liter version in the RS Spyder to the 4.6-liter powerhouse in the 918 Spyder and 963 hypercar – was eloquently documented.
A unique opportunity arose when Verbeeck had the chance to photograph a completely disassembled 963, focusing on the intricacies of the drivetrain. The resulting images revealed the mechanical marvel behind these racing titans, captivating engineering enthusiasts worldwide.
As a grand finale, Verbeeck was granted access to the Porsche archives, where he was shown the original drawing for the iconic Porsche crest by Franz Xaver Reimspiess, a senior Porsche designer from years past. This emblem, first adorning a Porsche in 1952, symbolizes the company’s roots, unwavering commitment to quality, and dynamic spirit.
