It remains to be seen if the report is accurate and, if so, what the powertrain will look like, but the most likely feasible option will be for the electrified Seltos to arrive as a mildly reworked version of the Hyundai Kona Hybrid sold in Europe. That makes use of a 1.6-liter GDi gasoline engine and a single electric motor to produce 139 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. Sure, acceleration is glacial (0-62 mph over 11 seconds), but perhaps a few tweaks could be made before fitting the system to the Seltos.
Until Hyundai or Kia makes an official announcement, however, this is all speculation.
