For the third year running, Ford has issued more recalls in a calendar year than any other US automaker. As reported by Automotive News, partial NHTSA data reveals that Ford issued 54 recalls in 2023, affecting almost 5.7 million vehicles. This represents a 21% decrease from last year. In 2022, Ford issued 65 recalls affecting over 8.6 million vehicles, so things are certainly improving.
The biggest Ford recall this year affected 1.3 million examples of the Fusion and the Lincoln MKZ, but that pales in comparison with the recent Autopilot software recall that affected nearly every Tesla in the country, some 2 million vehicles.
