Pricing of the Escalade IQ will only begin next summer at GM’s Factory ZERO Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Center in Michigan. The pricing starts at $130,000, including destination charges. This price is likely for the entry-level model, and we expect top-tier models with a few options to be closer to $150,000. Oddly, it’s not the most expensive Escalade available. That title belongs to the go-faster Escalade-V.
The Hummer EV SUV starts at roughly $80,000 and increases to $100k for the tri-motor model. Add some options to the Escalade IQ, and it’s a full CT4-V Blackwing more than a base Hummer.
Perhaps GM designed it this way so there wouldn’t be any overlap between the two, but if we had to choose one, we’d go for the Escalade. The Hummer has that image problem, and while we respect what it can do off-road, we don’t see customers using it that way due to the limited range and access to remote charging stations.
Electricity is particularly well-suited to luxury cars due to their silent nature and instant shove. The Escalade IQ is a luxury vehicle first and foremost, so that’s why it gets our vote.
