While it’s disappointing that Ultra Cruise appears to be disappearing, the good news is that Super Cruise will be available on more Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, and Buick vehicles in the near future. At present, the tech is available on only select vehicles, including the Cadillac Escalade, XT6, and Lyriq, the Chevy Blazer EV, Silverado, Tahoe, and Suburban, and the GMC Sierra and Hummer EV, to name a few.
For the time being, despite continual Tesla FSD improvements, Mercedes is leading the way in Level 3 self-driving tech, while BMW and Hyundai are not far behind. Hopefully, GM CEO Mary Barra’s apparent decision to focus on one specific system will help it catch up with the industry’s autonomous driving trailblazers.
