Horror Crash Between BMW M3 And Audi RS4 Shows Us Why Track Days Are Dangerous

Bits of crumpled bodywork and shattered glass lay strewn across the tarmac, and it’s clear to see both vehicles have taken quite a pounding. The entire right side of the BMW is damaged, with a caved-in passenger door and fender. Fluids can be seen spewing out from behind the panels.

Similarly, the innocent Audi looks worse for wear. The once-menacing rear fascia was badly damaged by the impact, with the taillight clusters, bumper, tailgate, and glass all destined for the scrap heap. We’re not sure if anyone was injured, but the BMW driver quickly exits the car to check on the RS4’s occupants. Later, a second passenger emerges from the mangled M car.

We’re not sure why the safety car was parked on the track but, then again, the passing vehicles were driving by at reasonable speeds.

Whatever the case, it serves as a stark reminder that even in the most controlled track day environments, things can go wrong. That’s why it’s all the more important to save your high-speed antics for the track.
