From Q4 2024, Kia will build the NACS port into new electric vehicles sold in the US, Canada, and Mexico. Kia will also make CCS1-to-NACS adapters available for nearly all first-generation electric vehicles so their owners can also enjoy the benefits of the Supercharger Network. These adapters are expected to arrive at Kia dealerships in the first quarter of 2025.
One of the main benefits of the Supercharger Network is the autopay system. There’s no need to fumble around with an impossible payment system. You simply plug a Tesla Model 3 in, and the payment is done automatically.
Kia wants to replicate this experience by connecting to the charging network via the Kia Connect3 app. The automaker is currently working on a software upgrade to make this a reality. With the updated app, Kia EV6 owners will be able to search for available Superchargers via the infotainment screen or their smartphone. It will also display availability, status, and pricing.
