Rare 1979 BMW 3 Series With Inline-Six Goes On Sale For Under $20,000

A little-known BMW 3 Series variant with a rare straight-six has appeared for sale in the US, and it’s got a ridiculously low asking price. When talking about the rarest Bimmers ever made, the BMW 3 Series would automatically be crossed off the list, but this 1979 BMW 320 from the E21 generation, currently for sale at Flemings Ultimate Garage, is among the scarcest examples ever made.

What makes this classic 3 Series different is what’s packed under the hood. While the BMW M10 four-pot mill powers earlier versions of the E21, this model, introduced in 1977, is powered by the 2.0-liter M20 inline-six engine, producing around 120 horsepower and 118 lb-ft of torque. It wasn’t offered in the US before, as only a few examples were made in Germany. This one was imported into the US in pristine condition.

Due to the low-quality nature of the video, we’ve included press images of a silver example.
