Over the course of 1,000 manhours of labor, the donor car is media-blasted to the bare metal, which is then reinforced and stiffened. Once complete, the entire car weighs something south of 2,645 lbs, thanks to extensive carbon fibery.
Powering the beast is a 2.5-liter boxer based on one of Subaru’s most recent blocks but enhanced with bespoke internals that include new cylinder liners, new connecting rods and pistons, and a new valvetrain with variable cam timing. A Garrett turbo, Akrapovic titanium and stainless steel exhaust, and six-speed sequential are among the tasty upgrades, the latter of which boasts the ability to perform semi-auto shifting in as little as 80 milliseconds. Thanks to helical cut gears, you can bang away at the tranny for hours.
To make the most of your Colin McRae fantasy, you also get LSDs at each end, WRC-style launch control, a floor-mounted pedal box, and even an optional cage. Oh, and 400 ponies with 442 lb-ft of twist.
