Online used-vehicle retailer Carvana Co. said Thursday its successful launch last month of same-day vehicle delivery to select customers in Arizona has expanded the service to Indiana and North Carolina.
Carvana, of Tempe, Ariz., began offering same-day delivery of vehicles in the greater Phoenix area in July. Based on its success, Carvana then began offering it as an option in the Indianapolis metropolitan and greater Charlotte, N.C. areas, a company spokesperson told Automotive News via email.
The company plans to further “roll out its new offering in select markets across its nationwide footprint in the coming months,” according to a news release.
Carvana’s same-day vehicle eligibility largely hinges on how close the customer lives to the used vehicle they select and delivery availability with other customer orders. For instance, a potential customer in Cincinnati or Louisville, Ky. may be eligible for same-day delivery because they are close to Indianapolis, a major market for Carvana, the spokesperson said.
Carvana in its news release indicated the same-day delivery option is made possible in part by its expanded infrastructure.
The company padded out its inspection and reconditioning infrastructure in 2022 when it acquired ADESA U.S., the No. 2 vehicle auction house in the nation, and its network of 56 physical sites.
