After trial and error, the crew landed on the 901 (ultimately renamed 911), which created the iconic shape we still see to this day. The issue with this car, though, was that it was not only significantly more expensive than the 356, but it was also now powered by a six-cylinder engine, which many Porsche faithful looked at as blasphemy. To remedy this, the company soon after introduced the 912 in 1965, which was virtually identical to the 911 except for its 356 SC heart, and thus satisfied throngs of Porsche faithful.
Peter Ellinghorst was one such Porsche faithful, even though his Porsche journey started a few decades later in 1991. That year, a slim 20-year-old student created a special photo album that started with pictures of his birth and ended with a photo of him and his father and a recently purchased 356 C. That car badly needed a restoration, and the adoring Ellinghorst was ready for it.
