The New Mini Almost Looked Like This

Appearance-wise, the ACV 30 is totally different from the production model’s final design. It bears notably chunky haunches, a sloping rear end, and four auxiliary lights. These were combined with classic touches like the round headlamps and a hexagonal grille resembling those on the original car. And appropriately, it came in a hatchback body style.

For its mechanicals, it was underpinned by the same chassis used by the very interesting MG F roadster. This means that it was rear-engined and rear-wheel-drive. It also used the Rover-made 1.8-liter engine found on the MG F. This contrasts with the front-engine, front-wheel-drive layout of all Mini models ever made.
