It’s true, whether you’re driving down a trail, crawling over some rocks, or driving through the mall parking lot, having the doors and roof off makes the experience indescribably more enjoyable. We’d wager that convertibility is the main reason people buy these vehicles, and this translates to impressive sales.
The other benefit of lobbing off the roof and shrinking the vehicle would be differentiation in the Toyota lineup. We’ve talked about how this vehicle is going to fit in the somewhat crowded Toyota off-road landscape, and although we think it works, this would help it to stand out from the 4Runner crowd even more.
Because one thing is for sure, although the Land Cruiser nameplate is iconic, god help Toyota if it gets in the way of its loyal 4Runner fanbase.
