Right off the bat, we can see that the engine blew up, which tore up a portion of the block, but we’ll get to that later. Eric first pulled out the aftermarket HKS spark plugs; all four looked good. This suggests that the previous owner was tuning the unit, so failures related to car mods are more likely over maintenance issues.
Most parts in the cylinder head looked fine, though the camshafts and journals had minor wear that could be fixed. There was also a crank on the exhaust manifold, which, again, points to a failure related to running too much boost.
