WATCH: Tesla Model 3 In Full Self Driving Mode Crashes Into A Pond

For those not in the know, aquaplaning is when the tire of a vehicle loses road contact due to coming into contact with water. A water layer builds up between the tire and the road, causing loss of steering and traction. Even the most advanced cars in the world, like Formula 1 cars, experience this phenomenon, which is quite difficult to recover from.

Aquaplaning, however, is easy to avoid by simply slowing down and using smooth inputs while driving over wet surfaces. As per the video above, both the FSD (and the driver) failed to do that. The Tesla continued on its merry way at 60 mph into a wet road patch, causing the vehicle to slide to the left side of the road and into a deep pond.
