Finally, it’s worth keeping an eye on Liam Lawson. Red Bull’s reserve driver is currently on loan at AlphaTauri and will compete at Monza. Lawson made his debut with only one free practice under his belt, and simply dragging the car home without any damage would have been a good result. Instead, Lawson finished in 13th, beating big names like Valtteri Bottas, Yuki Tsunoda, and Kevin Magnussen. That’s a good enough result to finally get a company car, and as we all know, the Red Bull boys each have a Honda Civic Type R.
Now that the stress of the first race is off his back, he’ll be worth watching more closely. Christian Horner has said that Ricciardo will likely be back in time for Singapore, so this is Lawson’s last chance to make a name for himself on the grid. The second silly season of the year is approaching, and there will be more open seats than we might have thought at the start of the season…
And if you’re looking for something not F1-related at Monza this weekend, the recently unveiled Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale will make an appearance alongside the F1 team’s specially liveried single-seater.
